Final Final Final Budget Week

November 10, 2003 Barbara

This has been the budget year from hell. If it weren’t bad enough that the state is making us put rate increase letters out 60 days in advance of the increase rather than 30 days, my boss went and had a pace-maker installed and then re-installed and ended up being on disability for the budget presentation to the board! (How inconsiderate of him!) ;-)

And of course, since my boss is out and neither the ceo or controller know how to use power point, guess who got to do the presentation? Did I mention that I also had to do the rate letters for all our 1000 sum residents? Did I mention that the ceo decided to change the entire ppt on Thursday the day of the board meeting?

So, in accountability this Sunday, I was reading over the last lesson and what discipline I had pledged to do. Tame the tongue…… Did I really choose that two Sundays ago????

My did I get a lot of opportunity to not say anything. My boss is usually a buffer between me and the ceo. I don’t generally have to deal with our bull in the china shop. But I have had the distinct privilege of getting to interact with him many many times over the past two weeks. What a learning opportunity for me–what a training ground.

I must admit that with God’s hand over my mouth, I did okay. By last Friday, I’d about reached my limit with the controller, but hadn’t lost it with the ceo. So, I still have a job! Yeah!

Lord, help me to remember that You are always with me and ready to help me. I know that You gave me this quick wit but never intended it to be used to wound. I love You Lord and I ask You to keep Your hand over my mouth.

I’ve seen how you have struggled and won my dear Wife! Better yet, He has seen and is pleased with the heart you show. Just know that he is pleased, and I am proud of who you are becoming in Christ.

Man, if we can’t use our quick witts to cut people into a million peices then what’s the point??? ;-)
